The Pumpkin Patch!
The Jackson family has made it a tradition to go to the pumpkin patch and pick our pumpkins for the season. When I was growing up my parents had a rule that we could have any pumpkin we wanted as long as we could carry it out, so I decided to employ this rule for our family. Remembering however that our kids are 1 and 2 years old I knew their picks were not going to be very big. But that was ok cause they would be perfect for our Thanksgiving pumpkin pie! But when we got to the patch I quickly realized that we had a choice of big, bigger or so big you would need a truck to carry it out. It was hilarious. So we let them pick any one they wanted. Jared picked a Green pumpkin.? (who knows ) Lizzy picked a good tall, skinny one and Tex of course picked the largest one in the field. (of course). We had so much fun. Then we went through the corn maze to the castle in the middle. Tex and Lizzy had a blast running through the corn and were so excited to find all kinds of bugs on the leaves. When we got to the castle there was a slide at the top that they played on for a while. When we finally went to total up our pumpkin purchase our total weight was 109 pounds of pumpkin! WOW! That is a lot of Pumpkin pie! :) We had a blast. The next day we went to another patch with a play group from church. EZ Orchards. We got to get on a tractor and take a hay ride, pick a pumpkin and an apple off the tree. I miss fresh apples. They were so good. The corn maze was next then the petting zoo. The kids had a blast. We got to end our trip with fresh made apple cider doughnuts and fresh squeezed apple cider. The best!!!!!!!! Can't wait to do it again next year.
